Overseas orders are now complicated by new postal regulations requiring "volumetric weights." Depending on the shipping method the exact cost may not be known before making the kites. We will make kites that are paid for, and then send a final bill for the remainder once they are ready for shipping. Thus Google Checkout and PayPal customers will suffer a minor inconvenience, for which we apologize in advance.
New Post Office regulations for USA!
Parcels over 1.05m long (ie. my kites) can no longer be posted, or mailed, to the USA by the Royal Mail, meaning we can no longer use Air Mail, Global Priority or DataPost.
All kites to the USA must now be shipped via a courier such as FedEx on a per-order basis. Costs are reasonable, however, compared to DataPost, but charges are now made on a "volumetric weight" basis, necessitating a two-step payment process.
Google Checkout and PayPal customers can purchase kites (or pay at least 40% deposit), and once the order is finished and packed the balance will be charged with a second invoice. |
NOTE: Delivery charges include VAT by law

Delivery - EU
- Delivery:
- · Royal Mail Global Priority (quite slow, with rudimentary tracking)
- · Express courier such as ParcelForce Datapost (Royal Mail) or or FedEx on a per-order basis (very quick and effectively trackable)
(Deliveries by Global Priority usually take much longer than advertized; express couriers cost sometimes less or sometimes more, depending on the destination, but they are always considerably quicker)
With the volumetric weight method used for costing all express deliveries, delivery charges will not be known until an order is made and packed. Therefore an initial invoice will cover the cost of the kite or kites, and the balance (including shipping) will be invoiced through PayPal or Google Checkout once the order is completed and packed
Kites are not made until paid for.
- Note 1: A telephone number is required for booking express deliveries
- Note 2: Insurance cover, where necessary, costs extra - we insure by default
- Note 3: In the unlikely event of obvious damage, packages must not be opened - investigators need to assess the package before proceeding with any claims for compensation for damage
Payment must be in UK pounds
EU customers can pay in UK Pounds with a credit card over the internet using PayPal or Google Checkout
PayPal or Google Checkout?
With PayPal you can pay in UK Pounds using a credit card, bank card, e-check or e-transfer, but there is a 4% handling charge covering currency conversion, transfer taxes, cross-border fees, etc.

(after 1 Feb '08 the charge will be in the region of 1.5%)
Send your order in a letter, along with:
- Your e-mail address
- Your preferred delivery option: Global Priority or express courier
(Global Priority takes quite a bit longer than advertized, and is not always less expensive)
We send a PayPal or Google Checkout invoice by e-mail (this will not include the delivery charge for express deliveries)
- Include the full delivery address along with payment and...
- Please remember to include a phone number for the parcel label
International bank drafts or international money orders are the most accurate methods of payment
Please make checks/money orders payable to: Dan Leigh
Bank-to-bank e-transfers - the last resort

- · Via express courier such as ParcelForce Datapost (Royal Mail) or FedEx (very quick, with good order tracking via internet)
We can usually work out Global Priority charges in advance, but with the new volumetric weight shipping charges for express services the delivery cost will not be known until an order is made and packed, in which case the balance will be invoiced using PayPal or Google Checkout once the order is ready.
Please remember to include a telephone number along with the delivery address
- Note 1: Insurance cover, where necessary, costs extra - we insure by default
- Note 2: In the unlikely event of obvious damage, packages must not be opened - investigators need to assess the package before proceeding with any claims for compensation
