Coramid lines are much thinner than braided Dacron and have almost zero stretch. They can cut through gloves, hands, tendons and anything else they might come into contact with, even metal. They cut through themselves and require special treatment at knots. They are recognized by names such as Spectra® and Dyneema®.
These 2¾ inch long, 175lb test steel ball-bearing swivel clips weigh half as much as a mini carabiner and snap swivel. They are big enough to glide freely down high-tech (aramid or coramid fiber) kite lines without snagging on knots, and durable enough to withstand years of use.
Normal wear on a mini carabiner is no worse than a bit of polishing after years of use with standard dacron lines. However, in extreme conditions* it might be possible for a very taut high-tech kite line to cut a shallow groove in the aluminum alloy as it slides. (Any such groove or edge should be smoothed off to avoid chafing flying lines.)
These big ball bearing steel swivel clips should be proof against that sort of wear.
* The only time this has been known to occur was in a very strong wind (too strong).
